Funeral arrangements for Adair County's Kenny Burris

 

COLUMBIA — Former Adair County Ambulance Service manager Kenny Burris, 45, passed away Friday at Jewish Hospital in Louisville after an illness. 

Mr. Burris managed the Adair County Ambulance Service from 1977 until 1997, when he had to retire due to renal failure. 

He also worked as a part-time Deputy Jailer/dispatcher at the Adair County Regional Jail from 1988 until this year.

Mr. Burris played a major roll in the development of the Adair County Ambulance Service. He also helped develop the 911 system and did most of the mapping and addressing. 

In June, 1997, Mr. Burris was placed on dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant. He received the transplant on Aug. 31, 1999, but developed complications and the kidney had to be removed in emergency surgery on November 12, 1999. Mr. Burris never recovered from the complications and died Dec 3, 1999. 

He is survived by his wife, Teresa, who is a 911 dispatcher. Also surviving from a previous marriage are two daughters, Jennifer Burris and LeeAnn Nuszbaum, and one grandson, Jonathan Nuszbaum; also survived by his mother, Lovetta Burris; one sister, Reba Rogers; and three brothers: Ricky Burris, Bradley Burris and Jason Burris. He was preceded in death by his father. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grissom Funeral home, 200 Campbellsville St., Columbia, Ky, 42728 (phone 270-384-2149). Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon CST on Sunday, Dec 5. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm CST Monday, Dec 6, with interment in Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia, Ky.
