EMS Council agenda

 

The next meeting of the Kentucky Emergency Medical Services Council will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. EST.

With the exception of the Training Committee, the EMS Council and standing committee meetings will be held at the Berry Mansion in Frankfort, which is located at 700 Louisville Road (US Highway 60 West) adjacent to Juniper Hill Park. The EMS Training Committee will meet the day before on Monday, Nov. 15, at 1:30 p.m.

  • Training Committee: meets Monday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the Health Services Auditorium, Health Services Building, Frankfort.
  • EMS/Trauma Systems Committee: meets Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m in the Dining Room of Berry Mansion.
  • Medical Standards and Delegated Practice Committee: meets Tuesday, Nov. 16 from 10:00 - noon in the Music Room of Berry Mansion.
  • EMS for Children Committee: meets Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Kitchen of Berry Mansion.

Each committee will meet and bring items before the full EMS Council.

  • EMT-First Responder status reports and recommendations, including new classes scheduled and the impact on staff.
  • EMT-Basic status reports and recommendations.
    • The American Safety & Health Institute has requested Kentucky approval of their ASHI CPR program for education to be recognized in addition to the AHA, ARC and NSC CPR training for the BLS professional in the 902 KAR 13:050 Section 4 of the proposed Kentucky EMT regulation revisions.
    • Requests for appointment of task force groups for immedeate projects, including:
      • EMT-Basic Refresher Course
      • Development of new scenarios for the EMT-Basic practical skills portion of the certification examination.
    • EMT proposed regulations.
    • EMS Branch Training and Certification Section vacant position.
  • EMT-Paramedic status reports and recommendations.
    • Paramedic training course applications:
      • Anderson County EMS Paramedic Course (Lawrenceburg)
      • Kentucky Emergency Medical Services Academy (Louisville)
    • Report of Fall paramedic boards.
    • Paramedics for certification.

EMS / Trauma Systems Committee:

  • Revisions to Kentucky Ambulance Regulations:
    • Drafts for review include:
      • 902 KAR 14:070 Licensing Procedures
      • 902 KAR 14:080 Class I Ground Ambulance Providers
    • Status report on Air Ambulance Regulations revision.
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch / 911 Issues
  • Jefferson County Diversion Protocols

Emergency Medical Services for Children Committee:

  • Kentucky EMS for Children Project:
    • Ongoing training and implementation project activities
    • Implementation of targeted issues project
    • Planning for maintenance activities following end of implementation project
  • Development of EMS for Children Priorities and Work Plan
    • Pediatric training for EMS providers
    • Public education / injury prevention initiatives
    • Adequacy of the EMS "System" to meet pediatric emergencies
    • "Model" protocol development, distribution, usage
    • Evaluation measures.
