STATCARE continues ride-along program

LOUISVILLE — Louisville Medical Center STATCARE has started it's ride-along program again. The program is suspended during the summer months due to weight limitations caused by the heat.

"Once again we are anxious to involve our EMS community in our program," said Flight Nurse Christy Link, who along with Flight Paramedic Joe Vetter coordinate the program.

This year STATCARE has implemented an electronic format for applications and scheduling. Participants can use the Internet to view the ride-along calendar and schedule their ride-along time at http://www.statcare.org/pr/ride.htm. Questions can be sent by e-mail to ridealong@statcare.org.

Those without Internet access can still call (502) 479-9109 to request information, but "We prefer to utilize the Internet for applications and scheduling," Link said.

The program accepts participants on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays beginning this October and ending next April. Ride-Alongs at STATCARE's new Glasgow location will not begin until January.
