BRANDENBURG — The Meade County Messenger reported this week that Meade County EMS Director Amir Mousavi has been dismissed following the revocation of his EMT and paramedic certification.

According to the Messenger, as a result of an investigation by the Cabinet for Health Services EMS Branch, Mousavi has lost his paramedic certification. Particulars of the investigation, which covered a wide range of issues, "indicated that (Mousavi) engaged in unprofessional conduct of a character likely to harm the public by failing to follow the appropriate standards of care in the management of a patient and administering medicine or treatment not in accordance with locally approved medical protocol."

The state's action concluded with "The conclusion drawn from the investigation provides the Health Services with reasonable cause to believe that you might cause harm or create a imminent danger to the public."

Meade County Judge Executive Mark Brown stated he had no choice but to terminate Mousavi. No decision has been made regarding Mousavi's replacement. Mousavi has until Sept. 17 to file a request for a conference on this matter.
