First candidates for new paramedicine degree apply for graduation By ROBERT
FULTON BOWLING GREEN The first candidates for the new Associate of Applied Science degree in paramedicine at the Bowling Green Community College (BGCC) of Western Kentucky University (WKU) have applied for graduation in December, 1999. The new degree requires participants to complete 25-hours of general studies -- including 16-hours in-residency at WKU. "In-residency," in this case, means taking courses either on campus or at the extended campus locations, by correspondence, Internet, KETV, or CLEP (challenge exams). Up to 9 hours of approved credit may be transferred from other educational institutions. Upon completion of the 25-hours of general studies the candidate presents proof of current National Registry certification and is awarded 40-hours of credit for their paramedicine studies. For more information contact Martha Houchin (270-780-2502) at the Bowling Green Community College.
