KEMTIA selects 1999 Dr. Carey Award recipient By JOHN
HULTGREN
The award, which is KEMTIA's top honor, recognizes an EMT-Instructor who is outstanding in the training they provide, furthering the future of EMTs and all EMS providers in the state. Burnett, who lives in Campbellsville, has been a member of Henry County EMS District 1 for 29 years and also serves as a board member. He is employed by Unified Foodservices Purchasing Co-op as communications manager and Information Technology. Burnett has been an EMT for 28 years, an EMT-Instructor for 21 years, and an EMT-Instructor Trainer for 5 years. The award, made possible by a grant from Rohm and Haas, Inc., is dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Carey, a Lexington physician who helped spearhead the development of emergency medicine in Kentucky, and who aided many EMS responders in furthering their education and training, assisting wherever necessary to better EMS care in the state. The award was presented tonight at KEMTIA's annual spring conference in Ashland. Other KEMTIA members who were nominated for the award included Midge Henderson, Ron Meadows, and John Hultgren.
