Training Committee (meets Wednesday, Feb. 17, 14:00 - 17:00 EST, Second Floor Board Room, Health Services Building, Frankfort).

1. EMT First Responder

a. Status Reports:
(1) EMT-FR Instructors Rollout Train the Trainer Sessions: (Glenn Lewis)
(2) EMT-FR Course, revised supplies and equipment list. (Glenn Lewis)
(3) EMT-FR Course, revised skill examination sheets. (Glenn Lewis)
(4) EMT-FR written examination for additional Kentucky certification requirements. (Discussion)

2. EMT-Basic

a. Status Reports:

(1) Review of the new and revised EMT-B curricula. These curricula are planned to be added to the proposed EMT-B core course upon adoption of the proposed EMT-B regulations. Training Committee members assignments are listed below.
(a) Advanced airway management (Julia Martin, MD)
(b) Maintenance of pre-established IV fluids for patients during pre-hospital and interfacility transports (Karen Freeman, RN, EMT-B Instr.)
(c) Use of glucometer (Lee Brown, RN, EMT-P)
(d) Use of non-invasive monitoring devices (Charles O'Neal, EMT-P, EMT-Inst.)
(i) Pule Oximetry
(ii) End Tidal CO2 Monitoring
(iii) Temperature Monitoring
(iv) EKG Cardiac Monitoring

(2) Review of the EMT-B Instructor Candidate Evaluation Process.
(a) Analysis report by Marcia Burklow
(b) Standards for evaluation process / current
(c) Proposed evaluation manual

(3) Review of Continuing Education Form for EMT-B certification renewal data. This will be implemented with the revised EMT regulations. Note: In the near future attention will need to be given to develop a Kentucky approved EMT-B refresher course to meet this need after the Kentucky EMT-B Transition Course phases out effective 1/1/00.

(4) Review of Revised Summary Forms for Kentucky EMT-B Practical Skills Certification Examination. Plans underway to start implementing use of these forms for April 1999 scheduled examinations.

(5) Status of EMS Branch HIV/AIDS Course CHS# 0200-746-M

(b) Recommendations to Council

(1) Approval of EMT-B revised additional curricula that have been reviewed and approved by the Medical Standards and Delegated Practice Committee

(2) Approval of plan to deal with the approximately 100 "waiting list" potential EMT-B Instructor Candidates who have partially met requirements according to current regulations and who desire to be evaluated for Kentucky certification by the new process.

(3) Approval of EMT-B revised continuing education form to be used in conjunction with revised EMT regulations.

(4) Approval of revised Summary Forms for implementation in Kentucky Practical Skills Certification Examinations.

(c) Other as determined by Chairperson.
