Lyon County EMS launches 'Community for Haiti' By SARAH MINK EDDYVILLE — Lyon County Ambulance Service has decided to make a donation to Haiti. We realized that we have some left over, unused items lying around that we no longer carry on our ambulances. We have gotten those items together to send to Haiti. If you would like to join us in making a donation please let me know. Check with your employer, there may be things that you don't use at your service. I am in contact with a man named Keith who got Murray hospital doctors and donations organized. He told me that they will take anything we can get to them (water, fluids, bandages, etc.) they even have the plane and the pilot to get it there. The only problem is funding for the fuel for the plane so, with that being said we are accepting money as well. Some of you may ask why? My only answer to that is, I look at my children and my family and see that in my own home they have enough toys, clothes, food, shelter and love to probably give to half of the children in Haiti and still have some left over. To the children in Haiti just one toy or a drink of clean water is worth a million dollars to them. That is why I feel that we can all help. We are calling this project Community for Haiti. During the ice storm we as a community, state, and nation came together to help one another. Now we have the opportunity to share that sense of community internationally. We have a DEADLINE of February 10 to have these items postmarked!!!! We will be sending them off by the 15th. Please only positive posts reply to this.
