Kentucky celebrates 40 years of EMS in the fire service Hebron Fire Protection District Media Advisory HEBRON — The Homeland Security Conference and 79th Annual Kentucky State Fire School, which is held annually in Lexington, will be recognizing a special anniversary this year. In 1968 the first Advanced First Aid program was taught and shortly thereafter followed by Basic Emergency Medical Technician classes and then Paramedic classes. At this year’s conference, there will be displays of the progress in EMS in the Fire Service in Kentucky, which will include displays of an old ambulance as well as a more modern one. There will be display boards of pictures and short stories from EMS providers from across the Commonwealth highlighting EMS advances over the years. We are looking to Kentucky EMS personnel to submit old and new pictures alike, as well as a short story from their career and maybe some anecdotal story from a run that stands out in your memory. These pictures and stories will be displayed in a timeline from 1968 through 2008. The deadline to submit is May 23rd. Please submit this information and/or contact:
