ESIP seminar a success

BARBOURVILLEMountain Valley Insurance and  Emergency Services Insurance Program, (ESIP), administered by McNeil & Co.,  presented a seminar for EMS Providers and Fire Department Services on January 9, 2008, at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, KY.

The first session, “EMS Liability and How to Reduce It” was a preview of a national lecture that the speaker, Bill Tricarico, Loss Control Director for McNeil & Co., will be delivering later this year.  The power point presentation included scenes of real accidents as recorded by windshield mounted cameras.  The session for fire departments, “Arrive Safely…Save Lives” also included videos of real fire truck runs and the accidents that can occur.  Bill shared statistics from a recent study on when the majority of accidents occur, and the results were surprising.

Each Service that attended received two different training CD’s from ESIP.  One is called “VIPER”, which deals with Violence Intervention by Prevention for Emergency Responders.  This CD shares information on how emergency responders should react to violent situations they may encounter . The other CD, “OperationSafeEMS,” is an EMS injury prevention and patient handling safety program.

All those who attended were well pleased with the lectures and felt they had learned a lot of helpful information they could implement in their own Services.

For any information regarding the ESIP program please contact Faye Rice, Regional Agent, at 888-332-3205 or at frice@mviweb.com.
