KBEMS re-opens search for director
By JOHN HULTGREN VERSAILLES — The Kentucky Board of EMS voted to re-open and expand their search for a new state EMS director this afternoon at their board meeting in Versailles. The motion was made by KBEMS board member Dr. Glen Franklin. KBEMS chair Judge Rob Rothenburger directed the board to "work with KCTCS to go more national." Earlier in the morning the KBEMS Personnel Committee met to discuss the director selection process. The KBEMS executive director position has been vacant since last spring. The board also questioned the position title. The previous director had been commonly referred to as the executive director, but the KCTCS position posting refers to the position as "System Director." Lewis Prewitt, the KCTCS system director for human resources, explained that the system director title is used within the KCTCS personnel process but that the executive director title can also be used by the person eventually selected. Interim director Ashley Davis also announced the resignation of Jeff Druen, effective Sept. 22. Druen had been coordinating the KEMSIS data collection project. Druen will work for the Cabinet for Health Services as a contractor. KCTCS will now handle the data collection system, which is currently in the early stages of testing. Judge Rothenburger was re-elected KBEMS chair. Mike Gribbons was elected vice chair. The board meeting schedule for the next year was also approved. The board will meet on Thursdays at 1:30 p.m. on:
