Funeral arrangements for Hugh Carlen

ELIZABETHTOWNHugh Horace D.J. Carlen, Jr., 52, the husband of LaRue County EMS paramedic Lila Carlen, of Buffalo, died Monday at his residence.

He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. A retired sergeant 1st class with 17½ years of service in the Army, he was employed with Fort Knox as an Army instructor for three years and was a member of Disabled American Veterans and also of ASCAP.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Robbie Alley Carlen; and three children, Shelly, Jonathon and J. Michael Carlen.

Survivors include his wife, Lila Hancock Carlen; a daughter, AnnaBelle Carlen of Buffalo; his father, Hugh Horace Carlen Sr. of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Carlen of Lubbock and Billy Carlen of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren, Alissa Quick and Dylan Dicus.

The funeral is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Buffalo Baptist Church in Buffalo with Brother Rodney Troutman officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and continues at 9 a.m. Thursday at Billy Howell Funeral Chapel in Hodgenville.

Billy Howell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
