KBEMS director
and attorney suspended FRANKFORT — The Kentucky Community and Technical College System has reportedly suspended with pay Kentucky Board of EMS Executive Director Brian Bishop and KBEMS attorney Kyle Thompson pending a termination hearing before the KCTCS Personnel Committee, which is scheduled to meet tomorrow. The suspension reportedly was effective last Friday. KBEMS board members have not been notified of any pending action. KBEMS staff members, off the record, say the only thing they know is that they received an e-mail from KCTCS last Friday stating that Ashley Davis is the interim KBEMS executive director. Davis, when asked if he had prepared a statement, said "I have no comment at this time." He said he believed KCTCS would issue a statement soon, possibly tomorrow. KBEMS board member Joe Bradshaw said "I'd be glad to comment, but at this time I don't know any more than anybody else. From talking with other members of the KBEMS board, apparently none of us have been given any information. We are only going on hearsay." The Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association "is deeply concerned over these developments, and is questioning exactly how much control the KBEMS board has over KBEMS, particularly in reference to Kentucky statutes," said Mark Harrison, KAPA president.
