LOUISVILLE — The Energy Policy Act of 2005 added four weeks to daylight saving time, and starting this year it will begin three weeks earlier and end one week later. For 2007, daylight savings time will begin on March 11 and end on November 4.

For those who use common computer programs, such as Windows, patches are available. Microsoft sent a patch out with automatic updates, though those with the automatic updates option turned off will not receive the patch unless they decide to update manually. And those who use Microsoft Outlook can download a manual patch from Microsoft's Web site.

Patches, with instructions, are available at:

Windows Vista is shipped already configured for the new daylight savings time.
