Clay EMS director retiring By James Gill MANCHESTER — Clay County EMS Director Kenny Price will be leaving the EMS community in early January after nearly 26 years of service. Price was recently elected Jailer for the county. Though thrilled about taking on this new challenge, Price will make this transition with a heavy heart. “It was through EMS that I came to really know and love this county and its people. The feeling I get from helping others through some of their darkest times is indescribable - I’ll definitely miss that,” Price says. Price began working in EMS in 1981 and has played a great role in many changes and improvements to the county’s service. “We’ve come a long way since I started here. Back then we ran only two trucks and took only a few hundred calls a year,” Price says. Currently, the county runs eight trucks, offers ALS services, and responds to nearly 5,000 calls a year. The county is also awaiting construction to begin on a new building to house the ever-growing service. Price’s strong work ethic and relentless dedication will surely be missed by the EMS community. We wish him the best of luck in his new career.
