PIKEVILLE — DHP Ambulance Service EMT Chassidy Howard, 30, passed away this morning at Pikeville Medical Center following a short illness.

Ms. Howard had complained of respiratory difficulty while on shift with DHP Ambulance Service last week. She was admitted to Pikeville Medical Center with a pulmonary embolism.

"Chassidy Howard had been a dedicated employee of DHP Ambulance Service beginning as a dispatcher and then obtaining her EMT certification where she was loved by the patients she transported and was respected by all of her co-workers," wrote DHP Ambulance Service director Gina Tarver. "Chassidy was currently employed as a supervisor with DHP. Her love and dedication to the field was certainly noticed and will be sadly missed."

Ms. Howard's sister, Myra Adkins, is currently employed as an EMT with DHP Ambulance.

Funeral arrangements are pending but will be held through Letcher Funeral Home.
