EMS license plate project abandoned

LOUISVILLE — A nearly five year project to create a special EMS license plate was abandoned today.

Since early 2002 the Kentucky EMS Connection, with help from the Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association, has lead an effort to create legislation that would have created a special vehicle license plate for EMS workers.

900 paid applications were required before the plate could be produced by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

In the end, only 34 paid applications were received.

All checks submitted will be mailed back in the next few days.
