KBEMS Katrina response update: Sept. 6

By KYLE THOMPSON
General Counsel, Kentucky Board of EMS

FRANKFORTThe Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services was briefed at the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center in Frankfort concerning the relief efforts in Louisiana and Mississippi at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 6, 2005.

KBEMS is currently monitoring the activities of all emergency medical personnel in, and around, the New Orleans area. At the present time, the Kentucky Office of Emergency Management has not received any additional requests for services or personnel to assist in the current operations.

Services are urged to continue to call the Frankfort offices of the Kentucky Board of EMS and notify Brian Bishop or Kyle Thompson of possible resources and personnel available to participate in any future operations in the southern United States.

KBEMS will continue in its efforts to amass possible resources to aid the distressed areas as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Your cooperation and assistance during these last few days is greatly appreciated. Persons wishing to volunteer time or resources are advised to contact their local EMS service to notify them of their availability, and to remain prepared for deployment.
