Katrina disaster response update for Sept. 1 Submitted by KYLE
THOMPSON FRANKFORT — The Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services continues to amass personnel and emergency medical equipment and units to prepare for a possible deployment to the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. To date, there have been no specific EMAC related missions and/or objectives that have been delivered to the Kentucky Office of Emergency Management. All volunteers are asked to remain prepared at all times for orders from Frankfort. As soon as the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services receives EMAC orders, all volunteers and services will be notified and mobilized. All agencies, services, and volunteers are urged to not self-deploy without orders and coordination from the Kentucky Emergency Response Center or the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. Do be aware that the national disaster management system has been activated and the Commonwealth of Kentucky is working as diligently and efficiently as possible to coordinate all relief efforts and volunteers. If you wish to volunteer time, service, personnel, or supplies you are urged to contact your local service director and have them contact the KBEMS central office as soon as possible. Your patience, service, and cooperation are greatly appreciated at this time of national disaster.
