HRSA Regions 13 and 14 receive $157,999 funding
By WENDELL R. HATFIELD Seventeen agencies in Central and Southeast central Kentucky received $157,999 in equipment to respond to hazardous materials incidents through a Health Resources and Services Administration Homeland Security grant. The equipment grant was sought under the auspices of the Central Kentucky EMS Alliance and coordinated by Charles O’Neal, Vice Chair of the CKEMSA. The seventeen agencies are located in KAPA regions 14 Central, Region 13 Bluegrass and Region 11 Cumberland Valley. The equipment received ranged from PPE kits to Decon equipment, and the recipients are grateful to Mr. Oneal for his dedication and time in applying for this grant. Mr. Oneal stated that it has been a pleasure to represent HRSA regions 13 and 14 in this endeavor. Please understand that our [EMS] ability to obtain this equipment should indicate to you that monies are available if sought by EMS agencies and that EMS agencies will be supported in their efforts to obtain funds if they participate. Charles Oneal will continue to serve as liaison regarding relaying information, but challenged each EMS agency in Central Kentucky to step up to the plate and represent our constituencies.
