Paramedic education scholarship established in memory of fallen EMT

LOUISVILLE — A scholarship that will award four grants, up to $1,500.00 each, annually for paramedic education has been established in memory of the late Brian Jennemann, a Jefferson County EMS Emergency Medical Technician who died in 2001 from meningitis contracted on-duty.

The Brian Jennemann Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his family and friends in an effort to honor his life and commitment to helping others.

According to the criteria, those selected will be "deserving candidates who demonstrate their desire, interest, and commitment to being a paramedic."

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and accepted into a certified paramedic training program. "Selections are based on the candidate's passion, commitment, and interest in paramedic training and serving the public."

Grants will be disbursed directly to the educational institution, fire department, city, county, or other municipality that is offering the certified paramedic training program.

Applications are being processed by The Community Foundation of Louisville.

The deadline for this year's applications is July 15.
