Elkhorn City Fire and EMS chief killed in training accident

ELKHORN CITY — Elkhorn City Fire and EMS chief Todd Rowe, 30, was killed Thursday night after being struck in the chest by an air bag while practicing putting snow chains on a fire truck.

"Todd was a good person. I've know him since we were kids and he was a fine individual. He served his community proud," John Moore, Assistant Fire Chief said to television station WKYT.

Rowe had served as fire chief for seven years. He was also an Emergency Medical Technician.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
