Paramedic makes bid for U.S. Congress

JACKSON — Stacy Abner, a paramedic who was a write-in candidate for governor last year, is now making a bid as an Independent for the United States Congress.

Below is an editorial from Mr. Abner:

My name is Stacy Abner, and I am fed-up with politics as usual. Politicians always promise, but all we get is the same ole, lame, politics as usual only in a new suit. I am making a bid for the United States Congress as an Independent. Many people, especially politicians think Independent voters are people who can’t make up their mind about being a Republican or a Democrat. What they don’t understand is that Independents are fed-up with both the major parties and Independents are attempting to create a new path.

There are many issues facing our great country, and we have many problems. However the problems did not happen overnight. Our problems are the result of years of political stagnation. In this election for United States Congress, 6th district of Kentucky, I face Mark Gailely, (Mr. Gailey does not nor has he ever held political office he is a working man like you and me). I also face Ben Chandler, and Tom Buford, both of whom have been in politics many years.

Politicians talk about the working people and how they are fighting for them, yet no politician themselves are working class. I have worked since I was twelve years. I started in the hay and tobacco fields, for the last five years I have worked as a Paramedic and am now working in Jackson County. Everyday I go to work I see the problems which face the people of this country. Not only do I see the problems I face them as well.  I struggle like so many of you have and do. I understand the plight of the working people of this country because I am one.

No matter who you decide to vote for please vote November 2nd, 2004. If you would like to know more about where I stand on issues please visit my website at. www.4freedom4ever.com I especially encourage those in the healthcare field to read the article I have written about Medicaire and Medicaid.
