FRANKFORT
—
Charles O'Neal, the deputy director of the Kentucky Board of EMS, has
resigned effective April 15.
O'Neal
has been part of the KBEMS' staff for 2-1/2 years and is leaving to become
Director of Public Safety in Anderson County where he will replace James
Ritchey, who will retire from that position on Aug. 1.
"I
am very proud of the accomplishments we have been responsible for during
that time," O'Neal wrote, citing:
- Passage
of House Bill 469, which consolidated all EMS statutes into a single KRS
chapter;
- Reducing
the number of EMS regulations from 37 to 13, consolidating disciplines
into single regulations;
- Establishing
pilot programs for EMT administration of epinephrine and nebulized
albuterol and the placement of combitubes;
- Establishing
EMS as a player in state bioterrorism activities;
- Developing
a closer working relationship with Kentucky Emergency Management; and
- Acquiring
over $700,000 in bioterrorism grant funds.
"My
parting is somewhat bittersweet," O'Neal wrote, saying there were many
other things he wanted to accomplish for EMS in Kentucky, "but the time
is right for my departure."
