Terrorism Preparedness on-line survey American Ambulance Association Terrorism Preparedness On-line Survey The American Ambulance Association (AAA) and the National Association of State EMS Directors (NASEMSD) are collecting information from ambulance service providers on whether they have obtained federal funding for terrorism preparedness. The AAA and the NASEMSD have been working with the Office of Domestic Preparedness (ODP) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to ensure that all EMS providers are eligible for federal emergency and terrorism grant funding available through ODP. ODP is supportive of our efforts and would like firsthand information from individual ambulance service providers. This presents the NAEMSD, AAA and ambulance service providers with a rare opportunity to provide ODP with information that will help guide public policy and facilitate access to ODP funding. It would be greatly appreciated if you would therefore take a moment to complete an on-line survey regarding terrorism preparedness funding. To access the survey, please click on the link: http://www.the-aaa.org/survey/2004AAATPsurvey.htm The survey will ask for information such as if you have received terrorism preparedness funding and if you are involved with local and state planning committees. Please note, under question 12, only fire departments are eligible for FIRE Grant funding. Please complete the survey for the period 2002 to present and one survey for each county in which you operate. The information you provide will remain confidential and will only be shared with ODP staff. The AAA and the NASEMSD have been working together on a wide range of terrorism preparedness and emergency reimbursement issues. The AAA has been successful in receiving confirmations through members of Congress that public and private ambulance services providers are eligible for reimbursement when responding to federally-declared disasters. And the AAA and NASEMSD were successful in obtaining support from the Congress for EMS providers to be eligible for ODP funding. PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2004. If you have any questions regarding the survey, please contact AAA Vice President of Government Affairs Tristan North by e-mail at tnorth@the-aaa.org or phone at 1-800-523-4447. Thank you for providing the information we need to help ambulance providers gain access to the resources they need to serve their communities.
