New
laws take effect today
LOUISVILLE
— Three of the new laws that take effect today in Kentucky include:
- Drivers
will be required to slow down or move to another lane when approaching a
police or other emergency vehicle on the roadside. (HB 15)
- Police and
fire dispatchers will be required to undergo more training to be able to
respond to emergencies better. (HB 406)
- State and
local government agencies will be required to keep records of the
homeland security funds received from the federal government. The move
is intended to help make Kentucky's safety effort more efficient. (SB
46)
