Medical Center EMS receives national accreditation

The Medical Center, Bowling Green Press Release

BOWLING GREEN — The Medical Center Emergency Medical Services has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services for its compliance with national standards of excellence.

The Medical Center Emergency Medical Services is the first private, not-for-profit service in Kentucky, and one of only 98 Emergency Medical Services across the nation, to achieve this professional accreditation.

In order to achieve the accreditation, The Medical Center Emergency Medical Services had to meet over 300 national professional standards in a variety of areas, including response time, vehicle maintenance, training, and record keeping. A team of independent reviewers spent three days in Bowling Green evaluating all aspects of the EMS operations.

"This accreditation represents our firm commitment to our patients and community," said Randy Fathbruckner, Director of The Medical Center Emergency Medical Services.  "We continuously strive to do our best and we view this accreditation as another step towards excellence."

Fathbruckner added, "Our staff has been key to our successful completion of the accreditation process. It gives everyone a feeling of prestige and pride to work with a service that has reached the gold standard in the ambulance industry."

The Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services is a non-profit organization, which was established in 1990 to "encourage and promote improved quality patient care in America's medical transportation system." Members of its Board of Directors include representatives from the following organizations: American Ambulance Association, American College of Emergency Physicians, International Association of Fire Chiefs, National Association of EMS Physicians, National Association of EMTs, and the National Association of State EMS Directors.
