LifeNet to place base of operations in Whitesburg

LifeNet Air Medical Service Press Release

LEXINGTON — In response to the motivation to better address the air medical transport needs of Eastern Kentucky, LifeNet Air Medical Services, the State of Kentucky's largest and only nationally accredited service, is pleased to announce the placement of a 24-hour base of operations in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The base will begin part-time operations in the next few weeks and will formally be placed into permanent full-time service no later than January 15, 2003.

Historically, LifeNet and the University of Kentucky have worked to insure that an appropriate level of transport care continues to be provided to the communities of Eastern Kentucky; hence, this activity is a commitment to that relationship and to the goal of providing ongoing services to the communities of Eastern Kentucky without placing any financial burden on the health care facilities in the region.

LifeNet currently operates helicopters in London, Morehead, Middlesboro, Versailles, KY. LifeNet also operates a fixed wing service based at Bluegrass Airport in Lexington, KY. Any of the program's resources may be accessed by contacting its emergency dispatch center at 1-800-678-9811.
