SHELBYVILLE — Yesterday he was a paramedic, but today he is "Your Honor."

Robert Rothenburger, a paramedic with Shelby County EMS since 1978, was elected Shelby County Judge Executive yesterday. He is the first Republican elected to this position in the history of Shelby County.

Rothenburger, who is the retired chief of the Shelbyville Fire Department, has also been employed by Jefferson County EMS.

"We are proud of Rob, for we now have one of our own in a position to help move EMS to a new level," said Tommy Sampson, chief of Shelby County EMS.
