SUSAN ALLEN PRESTONSBURG — A Martin County man was arrested Saturday after allegedly being drunk and shooting into Respond Ambulance in Prestonsburg where he worked. Robert Zeek, 35, of Quail Hollow in Inez, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and alcohol intoxication. Zeek had allegedly threatened a co-worker with a knife on Friday, according to a 911 report on the incident. Zeek, who was intoxicated, had passed out and was hanging on a banister above the Abbot Creek ambulance station with a .357 pistol strapped to his side, according to the 911 report. He later awoke and was firing at the business, pinning down a man behind the ambulance service and had another man trapped upstairs, the report said. When state police arrived, Zeek was in the parking lot, intoxicated, with the gun in his waistband, according to the arrest citation. Witnesses told officers Zeek had fired the weapon prior to the officers’ arrival.
Zeek pleaded guilty to the charges Monday in Floyd District Court
and was required to forfeit his weapon; was given 30 days in jail,
probated for one year; was fined $35; and is required to pay
$125.50 in court costs by Oct. 29. |
