LOUISVILLE — A new EMT was tragically killed in a vehicle crash while on her way home from work Wednesday morning.

Brandi Rutherford, 23, began her brief EMS career in June by enrolling in Yellow Ambulance Service's EMT class. She had just earned both her Kentucky and Indiana EMT certification.

"She seemed very excited about her new career and was always willing to do more," said Mike Ross of Yellow Ambulance Service.

Brandi is survived by her fiancé, two sons, Scott and Mike, one daughter, Destiny, and her parents.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gehlbach & Royce in Corydon, Indiana. Visitation will be today and Friday after 8 a.m. The funeral will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Rosehill Cemetery in Elizabeth, Indiana.
