Paramedic class starting in Manchester Advanced Emergency Training Associates is pleased to announce our fourth Paramedic Training Program. The tentative start date is November 11th. The class will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm until 10pm. There will also be a "skills day" to be held on the third or fourth Saturday of each month. The duration of the lecture and skills portion will be approximately 12 months. The five hundred hour field internship will follow graduation if all of the clinical objectives have been met. We have multiple clinical sites to choose from and over 15 different internship sites around the area. Applications are currently being accepted for admission into the 2002-2003 Manchester Paramedic Program. You may submit your application prior to the entrance exam by sending it along with $35 & copies of your: EMT, CPR, & Drivers License to: A.E.T. 487 Shawn Howell Rd. For more information on the requirements to become a Paramedic check out www.kbems.org as specified in 202 KAR 7:405 Cost/Financial Information: We are attempting to acquire a financial aid program, and should have more information on the program at the entrance exams. We are also inquiring about two different scholarship programs for EMS personnel. The cost of the program is $2500 unless paid on or before the first day of class, which would receive a $200 discount for early payment. The cost increases thereafter depending on the length of installments required. Every student must have a minimum $500 down payment at the commencement of the course. A.E.T. will finance the course with a signed promissory note and a payroll deduction form with the students’ employer for a period no longer than ten months. If the course is paid in full within the first sixty days there will be no installment fees ($50 per month) added to the tuition. Example 1: if a student pays $500 down, there minimum monthly payment is $250 for ten months for a total of $3000.00. Example 2: If it takes a student six months to pay for the course in full with the minimum $500 down payment the total cost will be $2800—5 months $2750, 4 months $2700, three months $2650, two months $2500. Entrance Exam: There will be two entrance exams. The first will be held on Saturday October 5th @ 11:00am the second exam will be held Tuesday October 8th @ 4:00pm. Both exams will be held at the designated lecture site which is the Campbell-Reed Learning Center in Manchester (see attached map for directions). Please contact the Course Coordinator to be placed on the roster or mail your application to A.E.T. at your earliest convenience. Along with the application please send the items listed above, and if available also bring or send copies of your Hep. B vaccination, TB skin test, and High School Diploma/transcripts or equivalent. There will be a Notary Public at the exam to notarize applications at no further charge. Miscellaneous Class Information: All text books are included in the cost of the class including: Mosby’s Paramedic text & workbook, Ekg workout book, Critical Care ALS pocket guide, ACLS text book, and possibly one or two more text which are under consideration. ACLS course fees will also be paid for along with personnel liability insurance. We are tentatively planning a PALS course.
