Sharon Perkins leaving Rural/Metro for state EMA

LOUISVILLE — Paramedic Sharon Perkins, the Kentucky manager for Rural/Metro since 1999, is leaving the ambulance business to become the Region 6 Area Manager for the Kentucky Emergency Management Agency.

Kentucky EMA is under the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs. In her new role, Perkins will work as a liaison with local emergency managers helping with preparedness and training. Region 6 covers Bullitt, Jefferson, Spencer, Shelby, Trimble, Henry and Oldham counties.

Perkin's begins her new position on Sept. 16.
