Certificate of Need actions

The following EMS-related items were published in the June edition of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health Services Office of Certificate of Need Newsletter.

Letters of intent received:

  • Medical Transportation Service, Grayson, Carter County. Establish a Class I (ALS/BLS) ground ambulance service to serve Carter County. 6/3/02.

Actions since last newsletter -- Formal Review Deferral

  • Left Beaver Vol Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Hi Hat, Floyd County. Expand existing Class I (ALS) ambulance service to include all of Floyd County utilizing existing five vehicles. $0. Deferral 5/17/02.

  • Medical Transportation Service, Ashland, Boyd County. Expand existing Class II (BLS) ambulance service to serve Carter County, utilizing two additional vehicles. $123,100. Deferral 5/1/02.

Advisory opinion report:

  •  Left Beaver Vol Fire Department and Rescue Squad. 

    • Proposal: Whether company with CON and license for Class I ALS/BLS ambulance service would require a CON to change license to Class I Specialty license.

    • Decision and date: CON is not required in that the project does not fall under provisions of KRS 216B.061. EMS Branch should be contacted concerning licensure changes. 5/24/02
