Implementation of the new national ambulance fee schedule is a go for April 1

By MIKE SWIFT
President, Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association

GLASGOW In the past several weeks, a number of ambulance providers have been making inquiries to the Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association regarding the status of the release of the Final Rule and whether the scheduled April 1, 2002 implementation of the new National Ambulance Fee Schedule would be delayed again.

Last Friday, KAPA President Mike Swift emailed CMS Director Thomas Scully and requested an update on the status of the release of the Final Rule and the scheduled implementation date for the New National Ambulance Fee Schedule. Today, Swift received an email reply from CMS Director Scully informing him that the release of the Final Rule was forthcoming and that the new National Ambulance Fee Schedule would be implemented on April 1, 2002 as scheduled.

KAPA has scheduled the first of five workshops with AdminaStar-Federal on the New National Ambulance Fee Schedule for March 1, 2002. The workshop will be held from 9:00 AM (EST) to noon at the Tri-State EMS Conference in Erlanger, KY and all providers, billing office staff and billing service representatives are welcome to attend.

For further information you may contact either KAPA President Mike Swift by telephone at (270) 651-5122 - email address: bmems@glasgow-ky.com OR Chief Jim Butler by telephone at (859) 647-5660 - email address: Jbutler@CityofFlorenceky.com.
