Federal
budget includes some Kentucky EMS money

WASHINGTON,
D.C. —
Kentucky's delegation to U.S. Congress was able to win $2.3
million of the federal budget for EMS-related projects back in the
Commonwealth.
These
projects include:
- $1.5
million to the University of Louisville's Center for the Deterrence of
Biowarfare and Bioterrorism to develop a plan for integrating public
health, law enforcement and other services for a response to a
biological attack. (McConnell)
- $500,000
for Kentucky Emergency Medical Services Academy at Western Kentucky
University, to expand its education and training programs aimed at
improving emergency medical services in rural areas. (McConnell)
- $190,000
for repairs and renovation of Simpson County's Emergency Operations
Center. (Whitfield, Bunning)
- $150,000
for a new hangar and landing pad for air ambulance service at Glasgow
Airport. (Lewis)
- $105,000
to upgrade Allen County's 911 system (Whitfield, Bunning)
The
$2.3 million in budget awards is about two-tenths of a percent of the $958
million total awarded for all Kentucky projects and programs.
