Firefighter survival training in Hebron this February

The Hebron Fire Protection District and the City of Florence Fire/EMS Department are proud to announce that F.D.N.Y. Battalion Chief John Norman and F.D.N.Y. Firefighter (Retired) Dan Noonan will be conducting a Firefighter Safety and Survival Seminar on February 23rd and 24th, 2002 in Hebron, Kentucky.

John Norman is the Chief of Special Operations for the FDNY. He was instrumental in the development and planning of FDNY's response plan to terrorism incidents. He is the author of "Fire Officers Handbook of Tactics," and is also a contributing editor of Firehouse Magazine. He is an instructor at the Nassau County N.Y. Fire Service Academy and lectures nationally on fire and rescue topics.

Dan Noonan is nationally known for his fast paced and motivating presentations. He is currently a Fire Technology Instructor at Miramar College, San Diego, and is a former member of FDNY's busiest truck companies. He is a national lecturer and featured speaker at FDIC and Fire-Rescue West. He is a facilitator at Command School, has lectured at Harvard University, and has provided training programs for many departments throughout the country. His articles appear in Firehouse Magazine.

The topics for the seminar are:

RESPONSE AND RESCUE RECOVERY OPERTIONS AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER

Rapid Intervention Team, Size-up

Operational Objectives for Laddering the Fireground

Extreme Circumstances – The rescue of unconscious firefighters under emergency conditions (A hands-on demonstration)

Aggressive Primary Search

VES – Vent – Enter – Search

A firefighting review of the most common type of fires. (Single story and two story single family dwellings, strip malls, commercial buildings and the problems that they present.)

ALSO APPEARING AT THE SEMINAR

Firefighter Matt Mosley of the Atlanta, Georgia Division of Fire will conduct a presentation at the opening of the seminar.

The seminar will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on February 23rd and February 24th, 2002, at the Cincinnati Marriott Inn (Airport) located at 2395 Progress Drive in Hebron, Kentucky. The registration fee for this sixteen-hour seminar is $75.00 per person. The registration fee includes all seminar materials and lunch for both days.

Lodging for the seminar can be obtained by telephoning the Cincinnati Marriott Inn (Airport) at (859) 586-0166. Rooms have been blocked for individuals attending the Firefighter Survival Seminar at a reduced rate of $79.00 a night plus tax. Please mention that you are attending the seminar when making your reservations to receive the reduced rate.
