Published Sept. 26 in the Glasgow Daily Times Barren paramedic finishes in second place in state EMS Olympics Glasgow Daily Times GLASGOW — Bill Milan, a paramedic with the Barren-Metcalfe County EMS finished in second place in both the individual and team Advanced Life Support competitions of the state EMS Olympics held in Owensboro on September 10 and 11. Milan's partner in the team ALS competition was Jim Williams of the Medical Center at Bowling Green's EMS. The Olympics competition was conducted prior to the state EMS conference with the winners announced and presented their trophies at the awards banquet that was held on Friday, Sept. 14 in Owensboro at the Executive Inn Rivermont. Somerset-Pulaski County EMS captured first place. Milan earned the right to participate in the state competition by competing and finishing in first place in the team Advanced Life Support competition in Region 1's EMS Olympics held in Paducah. He also competed and finished in second place in Region 2's individual Advanced Life Support competition held in Elizabethtown earlier this year. The state EMS Olympics competition was conducted by the Kentucky Association of EMTs and sponsored by numerous EMS agencies, vendors and supporters from throughout the state. Milan, who received his paramedic training at Glasgow's first
paramedic class at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital, is employed
by the Barren-Metcalfe County EMS and works at the Glasgow/ Barren
county station. |
