Fund established for paramedic with cancer By
MARTY R. JOHNSON ASHLAND — We, at Boyd Co. EMS, are again requesting financial assistance for one of our own paramedics. Vigil Conn, EMT-P; Certification number 180-P; was diagnosed with inoperable metastatic lung cancer. Some of you may remember last year when Charlie Haynes, EMT-P contracted stomach cancer. Charlie has lived over a year long than doctors had expected, and still having problems but doing well considering what was expected. Charlie was very moved by all the support he received both locally and statewide. Charlie and Virgil was partners for over 20 years of their long and distinguished careers. I hope we will be able to generate as much financial support for Virgil as we did Charlie. With Virgil’s past medical history he does not have much vacation time stored, so we hope to collect enough money to help him until his retirement checks begin. Vigil
has been employed at Boyd Co. EMS for 23 of the 24 years that Boyd Co. EMS
was been in operation. In the
last five years Virgil has had a heart attack, open heart surgery, stroke,
and brain surgery. Most people
thought he would not be able to return to work, however, he did. If you are unable to contribute financially, please feel free to send a note of encouragement to Virgil; as I’m sure he will appreciate those just as much as money. Contributions may be sent to:
Thank you in advance for your contribution.
