Robertson County leases EMS service

MOUNT OLIVET — Care First of Lewis County will be taking over operation of Robertson County Emergency Medical Service by the first of the month, according to owner Jim Conley.

“I believe we’ll be able to come to an agreement,” said Conley Monday afternoon. “There were just a couple changes on the contract.”

Robertson County Judge-Executive Bradley Gifford said he thinks the agreement will be very positive for the EMS.

“We don’t have the personnel or the money to keep on top of everything,” said Gifford.

The service has been managed by Gifford and the fiscal court since last August, and Gifford said he believes the service will be better managed under Care First.
“I’m not an EMS person. The fiscal court, they’re not EMS people,” said Gifford.
Conley said he thinks Care First will take over operation of the troubled service by the first of July.

There will be some operational changes and updating of equipment when Care First takes over, Conley said.

“But I think everyone will be pleased,” said Conley. “I’m looking forward to working with everyone over there. They seem like really nice people.”
