KELLY SUDZINA MOUNT OLIVET — Robertson County’s life squad will be able to pick up its “new” ambulance next week. However, the county is still waiting for an answer from a company that has expressed interest in leasing the ambulance service. The Robertson County Fiscal Court announced during Friday’s meeting that the ambulance the county plans to purchase from Estill County is ready to be picked up. Grant money was set aside in the county budget some time ago for the purchase of a used ambulance, and the EMS has been waiting for the go-ahead from Estill County. Judge-Executive Bradley Gifford set up a meeting for Monday with Life Squad Coordinator Keli Jones to check the vehicle out and bring it home. “We need to get that in as soon as possible. We’ve got transports set up and waiting,” Jones said. The squad has had to refuse transports because only one ambulance has been operational for several months. Jones said the county was getting the diesel vehicle for a bargain at $7,500. “They felt they could let this go for a lesser price because we are in need,” she said. “They were trying to help us out.”
