Published March 14 in the Journal Enterprise Ambulance board reports to Webster Fiscal Court By GWEN BOLIN PROVIDENCE — At Monday morning’s meeting, Webster County Fiscal Court members heard the first report from the county’s newly formed Ambulance District Board. First meeting for the board was Tuesday, March 5. Elected as the board’s chairman was Max Collins. Chosen to serve as the board’s recording secretary was Tara Jackson. The remaining member, Diann Riden, is the board’s designated co-signer of checks. County Treasurer Paula Guinn will be acting as treasurer for the board. “I think we really have a good board,” commented Judge-Executive Jim Townsend. “They seem very interested in making this work.” Representatives from the Department of Local Government were on hand to instruct board members of their duties and help assure a smooth transition of overseeing the ambulance service from the fiscal court to the board. “At the meeting we were told we needed to reword the contract with the ambulance service to incorporate Webster County Ambulance District into the contract instead of Webster County Fiscal Court,” said Townsend. Townsend also asked magistrates to allow him to sign the ambulance service over to the district once the contract had been approved by Webster County Attorney Jody Rich. An interlocal agreement between the court and ambulance district was recommended. Also, the ambulance board needs to have authorization over the building currently used for ambulance operations. Magistrates unanimously agreed to allow Townsend to sign a contract transferring the ambulance service from the court to the ambulance board. The next open meeting of the ambulance district board will be Thursday, March 22 at 4 p.m. at the courthouse.
