GWEN BOLIN PROVIDENCE — Members of the Webster County Fiscal Court received a good report from Medical Center Ambulance Service (MCAS) in Monday morning’s meeting. “What I’m presenting to the court is five month’s numbers,” said MCAS Director David Webb. “Right now we’re running slightly above where we thought we would be in total patient revenue.” Total operating revenues were reported as $185,602 while total operating expenses were $161,568. Net income from operations was $24,034 as of Jan. 31, 01. Webb also provided the court with a break-down of ambulance runs from September 2000 through January 2001 as follows: Emergency - 224; non-emergency - 104; dry runs - 101; special hospital runs - 2; out-of-county runs (runs to hospitals other than Madisonville or Henderson) - 60. “We had budgeted for 2.6 runs per day but have been averaging 3.2 runs per day,” commented Webb. MCAS representative Joe Miller addressed the court. “We’ve been very pleased with the contract to date,” said Miller. “We’ve received excellent cooperation from the county. We think it’s been a win-win situation.” According to Miller any excess funds at the end of period will be split 50-50 between the county and MCAS. “We’re pleased with where we are,” said Miller. “We don’t know of any complaints at this time.” “I don’t know of any either,” commented Judge-Executive Jim Townsend. “I’m very pleased to say it has been a good relationship and everything has gone well.” Townsend also mentioned approximately $30,000 of the $200,000 received from the state is ear-marked for expansion and remodeling of the ambulance service building in Dixon. Townsend also announced the county has received $49,100 from the state to be used for equipment allowing dispatchers to handle 911 calls from mobile phone users. Tuesday, March 6 at 5 p.m. in the courthouse will be the first ambulance board meeting. A representative from the Department of Local Government will be on hand to explain the duties of board members and to answer any questions concerning the board.
