FRANKFORT — City of Winchester Mayor Dodd Dixon was appointed by Governor Paul Patton today to fill a vacant position on the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services.

The appointment was announced this afternoon by Brian Bishop, executive director for KBEMS.

Dixon replaces Prestonsburg Mayor Jerry Fannin. Fannin was appointed to the board last September for a three-year term. Last November the Paintsville Herald reported that Fannin had dissolved his city's ambulance service, saying it was not financially viable without new taxes or state aid.

Dodd's appointment will also expire Sept. 19, 2003.
