HCFA publishes memo on mandatory assignment for drugs and biologicals

POWAY, California — The Health Care Financing Administration has posted Program Memorandum B-01-10 "Mandatory Assignment for Drugs and Biologicals" to their website:

Effective February 1, 2001, BIPA 2000 requires mandatory assignment for drugs and biologicals.  Any ambulance service that bills medications using J codes will be required to accept assignment for those J codes.
