KAPA plans legislative reception By
JAMES RITCHEY LAWRENCEBURG — The legislative committee of the Kentucky Ambulance Providers Association will hold a reception for the legislator during this session of the Kentucky General Assembly. The reception is scheduled for Feb. 15 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Frankfort. All 138 members of the Kentucky General Assembly will be invited to attend. The reception will be used as an opportunity for EMS personnel to be updated on pending legislation and on KAPA's Medicare and Medicaid projects. Several issues vital to EMS and fire are currently on the agenda of the General Assembly. In addition, this upcoming week may see the first real impact announcements on the Medicaid shortfall revealed to the General Assembly. EMS personnel from all over Kentucky are encouraged to attend. In addition, it would be helpful if they would contact their local state representatives and ask to meet with them to discuss issues at this reception. It would provide an opportunity to meet with their legislators and discuss their local issues with them without the pressure of the legislative session being in progress at the Capitol.
