LEXINGTON — A moment of radio silence will be observed on June 14 at 10:08 PM EDT, marking the anniversary of the University of Kentucky Air Medical Services crash in which four EMS crew members perished.

At this exact time one year earlier, UK's Sikorsky S-76A helicopter crashed into a hillside in Breathitt County shortly after taking off from the Julian Carroll Airport to return to Lexington at the end of their shift. All four crew members were killed. There were no patients on board.

Killed were the two pilots, Don Green and Ernie Jones, Flight Nurse Sheila Zellers, and Flight Paramedic Brian Harden.

"We ask that the EMS community in the Commonwealth help us honor our fallen colleagues in this manner," said John Isfort, speaking for the program.

This was the first crash for UK's flight program, which has operated since August 1987.
