Mercy Regional EMS creates "Bike Patrol" Mercy Regional EMS Press Release
PADUCAH Pre-hospital emergency care has just received a “two-wheel” boost in Paducah/McCracken County. Mercy Regional EMS, in our continuing effort to provide the community with the best in emergency medical services, is proud to announce the creation of the bicycle emergency response team. EMT’s G. T. Garrison and Daniel Hodge and Paramedics Jason Lane and Ben Bradford make up the ambulance services’ first ever bicycle EMS team, which will be used during large community events through out the summer. With the growing activities, especially downtown,” says G T Garrison, “it’s great to start something new to help provide better and faster emergency care in large crowds.” Daniel Hodge says “it’s a great way for me to improve my own health and well being, as well as becoming more involved with the community that we serve.” The bikes are fully equipped with medical supplies and cardiac monitors and will enable us to administer emergency care in large crowds faster, especially where access via an ambulance is limited. The team has had some special training, as to better learn how to maneuver in large crowds with the bikes, so the response times are even quicker. Just another way Mercy Regional EMS is working to better serve Paducah/McCracken County in pre-hospital emergency care. Mercy Regional is affiliated with Lourdes and Western Baptist Hospitals.
