EMS
2000 rally planned By
BOB GAINER FRANKFORT Everyone involved with EMS in the Commonwealth is invited to attend a rally to plan strategy for the passage of HB 405. The rally will be held Monday, Feb. 14, at the Capital Plaza/Holiday Inn in Frankfort at 6:00 p.m. EST. If you would like to be updated on the contents of HB 405 and what the bill will do for EMS when it passes, then you should attend this statewide meeting. Those who are undecided -- or who would like to voice their opinion against the bill -- should also attend.
This meeting, although sponsored by the Kentucky Ambulance Providers
Association, is by no means a KAPA meeting. It is meant to rally
support for HB 405
(Committee Substitute) which is supported by EMS, EMS related We have reserved a "large" meeting room so that there will be room for everybody who is interested. Earlier today the bill went before the House Health and Welfare Committee. There were at least 60 to 70 EMS folks, in uniform, attending that meeting. After some questions and answers, "our" HB 405, also known as EMS 2000, passed out of Committee favorably. The next stop for the bill will be the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee. That will be our biggest hurdle and we are really going to need everyone's help in order to get it through there. After that, it should be somewhat easier. Not a guarantee, but easier. Please try to attend this important
session Monday night.
Tuesday is the Kentucky EMS Council meeting so you will be able to stay over
and attend Editors note: a similar announcement was also received from James Ritchey, secretary of the Central Kentucky EMS Allliance.
