Hurricane Gustav |
All present were updated on the ongoing
negotiations with the State of Louisiana regarding
reimbursement of the Kentucky EMS EMAC contingent. |

Ice Storm 09 |
President Harrison opened the floor for
any questions and/or comments regarding the EMS response to
the Ice storm that affected the majority of the State on
2/27/09.
Many of the impacted providers
commented on the help provided by Charlie O’Neal as he
operated from the State EOC over a period of 18 days. |

Conference Report |
Conference Chair Joe Bradshaw provided an
update of conference activities. David Williams is
coordinating the annual Golf scramble at Kerny Hills on
Tuesday. Conference kickoff will be on Wednesday and the
banquet will be on Thursday night.
The conference committee will meet
tonight following the KAPA meeting. |

Legislative Report |
Legislative Chair Joe Prewitt gave a
summary of 2009 legislative topics affecting EMS. Discuss and
explained the failure of legislation related to EMS line of
duty deaths. |

Board Vacancies
|
President Harrison announced that we
currently have 3 board vacancies in regions 8, 14 and 15.
Interested individuals from these regions are urged to submit
a letter of interest for appointment. |

EMS Leadership workshop |
KAPA, in conjunction with the Murray
State University and the Ky Department of Rural Health will
be hosting an EMS leadership workshop in July. Specific dates
and locations to follow. |

Kentucky Medicaid
|
Michael Mason, along with Nancy Horn
presented the board with current actions by Medicaid to
recuperate overpayments from 2007. In many instances the
recuperation has been in excess of the previous overpayments
and this issue has caused a severe financial burden to
providers with a high Medicaid payor percentage. President
Harrison vowed to follow up with the Cabinet for Health and
get more information to the providers. |
